Upcoming Show 3/3/25! Don’t Try to Bend the Spoon.
Bend Spoon is a radio talk show with the title Don’t Try to Bend the Spoon.

Bend Spoon:
Hostess Lisa Winton and Swami Jayananda delve into a profound statement by Bicknell Young from Addresses: “Life is God; there is no death.” Together, they discuss how this timeless insight can inspire a higher standard of living for humanity today. They also reflect on a pivotal moment from The Matrix when Neo visits the Oracle, drawing parallels to Spiritual awakening. Additionally, the show highlights Mary Baker Eddy’s statement in Principle and Practice: “It is the healer’s understanding of the operation of the divine Principle, and his application thereof, which heals the sick.” Welcome to The Voice of Yoga, where we explore consciousness and Spiritual growth. Join the Kriya Yoga Spiritual Advance to illuminate your soul and move from striving to Knowing the Truth.
Notes:
- Inspired by the scene in the movie The Matrix when Neo goes to the Oracle and sees the young boy bending the spoon. Boy, says ” Do not try and bend the spoon, that’s impossible. Instead, only try and realize the Truth.” Neo, says, “What Truth?” Boy replies, “There is no spoon.” Neo says, “There is no spoon?” Boy says, “Then you will see, it is not the spoon that bends; it is only your Self.” When learning Divine Science this becomes the foundation for the rule to apply the Principle.
- “I shall not want” not because this is being selfish and God wants me to be more concerned for others but because wanting implies something is missing, insufficient, imperfect, lacking. Life is Perfect and the Divine Principle is everywhere always; so wanting is a sign– I don’t Know the Truth. To demonstrate Divine Law with Scientific certainty one must understand the operation of the Divine Principle– One Perfect Changeless Life without opposite. Trying is a mortal concept– accepted and believed in by a false sense of self. Yet, we cling to this life that never was and continue to pretend it is; only to die in our sin. We missed the mark, are in the wrong self and continue in the cycle of death and rebirth under the law of Karma driven by the belief in two powers instead of the One.
- To take the instruction from The Matrix, do not try and bend the spoon, that’s impossible.” It’s impossible because there is no spoon, wow! Opening this up into do not try to heal the sick, reform the sinner, raise the dead because it isn’t there? Yet we continue to try and figure out how the unreal became real and it didn’t– it isn’t there the good or bad. We keep trying, striving, struggling, seeking, planning, and asking only to find we need more information. What happens when we only try and realize the Truth? It sure was easy for Neo in the movie but it may take a bit more in actual experience. We can’t Know the Truth with the mind which is creating the false sense of existence and we need to develop the faculty which receives the Divine idea.
- Jesus said, take no thought, be born again of Spirit, eat my flesh and drink my blood. John the Baptist called it “repent” but we have to shift thought from a material and mental basis to a Spiritual basis and then prove what we are calling Spirit demonstrates the Divine Principle by dominion over karmic or material law.
- Spirit doesn’t try, struggle, strive, seek, plan or ask– but Knows the Truth. Life is Perfect– rest in the Knowledge of the Divine creation everywhere always. Start with a belief in the Divine creation by building the mental landscape which supports the Divine Principle, we do this by knowing the nature of God as Perfect, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, and Omniscient everywhere always. Spirit is Whole and can’t be divided begin to understand yourself and the expression of the One Perfect Life. You develop an awareness that begins to grasp why Paul said, “life is hid with Christ in God.” Christ is the saving aspect of Truth which makes the Divine idea comprehensive to human consciousness. The faculty which reveals the Truth, the interface between the human and the Divine.
- Life did not begin in the womb and is destined to die in the grave. “Life is hid with Christ in God.” To Know this to be True will make you free from the mortal dream of a separate second self. Rise! Out of the mortal belief and accept Spiritual identity– I am everywhere always Perfect, Whole, Changeless and Eternal. Fear not It is I.
- Something from Joel Goldsmith, Consciousness Transformed, ” At this point a question always lifts its head: “What can I do to bring about this harmonious conclusion to the initiation? What can I do to perfect myself?” The answer is this: Recognize that God is spirit and acknowledge that you are seeking only a spiritual demonstration. Stop thinking in terms of a spiritual God who will perform some material good. Stop thinking in terms of a God who will do something for a person. There is no such thing. There is no such thing as a God who will heal me or you or your patient or your student. That is going back to paganism. God is the impersonal life of all being, but God is spirit, and so your entire consciousness must be on the nature of the kingdom of God: Seek ye first the kingdom of God, the nature of spiritual grace, the nature of the gift of God. Then when you are absent from the body, when you are absent from taking any thought about the externalized forms, “the bridegroom cometh.” The eternal mistake is trying to connect a spiritual God with a material universe when “My kingdom is not of this world.”
Do not try to make a spiritual God maintain a human body or a human home or a human purse or a human business, and in the moment ye “think not” about persons, things or conditions, and continue to abide with me–continue to abide in the Word–spiritual harmony comes and it brings the out picturing of harmonious human conditions.”
