Notes:

1. I am inspired by Mary Baker Eddy’s writing in Miscellaneous Writings page 355, “This absolute demonstration of Science must be revived. To consummate this desideratum, mortal mind must pass through three stages of growth.” She does represent these stages in some of her writing but in my opinion, it doesn’t offer good instruction to facilitate 2026 challenges because it lacks methodology. I find the bible represents the necessity with statements like born of woman, born of man, born of Spirit. Kriya Yoga on the other hand meets the challenge with exact lifestyle strategies starting with born of Spirit moving into skillful use of thought, breath, water, food, and exercise. Along with the song sheet or schematic found in the man, bull, lion, and eagle.
2. Why do we purify the mind/body complex only to accept Spiritual identity? Because the only way to put off the false sense of self is to master the three modes of mortal thought to eliminate the material moorings. As Mrs. Eddy wrote in S&H “a body rendered pure by Mind, as well as washed by water.”
3. Using the Mutable Signs to outline the modes of thought available Gemini is the lower mind (instinct, appetite, survival based motivation or animal magnetism– fear as the defense mechanism for the false sense of self). Virgo is the mid mind (human intelligence experienced with the development of the sheath system in Yoga to divide and conquer fear by engagement of human will to regulate mental energy with mental functions; perception, reason, memory, and intuition– self-control earned through disciple) the mortal mind is like any muscle in the body stress it, nurture it and it gets stronger– don’t use it and it atrophies. Sagittarius is the higher mind (world mind which is corporeal sense functioning in human consciousness– the son of perdition) to overcome the world we overcome the temptation to believe in anything unlike the Divine Creation. The finals mode of thinking is Pisces which is the operations of Divine Mind (to think with God, as God).
4. To compare the disciplines we have this from Gilbert Carpenter— Mary Baker Eddy, Her Spiritual Footsteps, Chapter 6, “The early environment of Mary Baker Eddy was Calvinistic, which means that the whole trend of thought at that time was on the serious side, with long sermons and solemn Sabbaths. But Mrs. Eddy was reaching out for warmth and joy and, not finding it in the church of her fathers, she sought it in the intellect, in literature, and in poetry. It is reasonable to believe that this early solemnity of thought was a better field to take off from, than would be one so grown up with beautiful vegetation, that it offered little opportunity for an airplane to taxi around, in order to gain the necessary speed. You must have a clear field for a good takeoff, and the barren Calvinistic field was well suited to this purpose.”
5. Mary Baker Eddy wrote in S&H “If this Science has been thoroughly learned and properly digested, we can know the truth more accurately than the astronomer can read the stars or calculate an eclipse. This Mind-reading the spiritual understanding which demonstrates the capacity of Soul, not of material sense. This Soul-sense comes to the human mind when the latter yields to the divine Mind.
   Such intuitions reveal whatever constitutes and perpetuates harmony, enabling one to do good, but not evil. You will reach the perfect Science of healing when you are able to read the human mind after this manner and discern the error you would destroy.”
6. Herb Fitch in Realization of Oneness, 35B,
   “In our consciousness then comes the death of the corporeal sense and that is the birth of the Christ awareness. It’s a see saw. As one diminishes, the other expands. As one goes down, the other comes up.
   This is all by way only of explanation. The implementation of it follows.
   So, finally the servants of the soldiers bind him up, the band and the captain and the officers of the Jews took Jesus and bound him. And so, the Self of man is bound while the non-self takes over. As we live in the human sense of self, we bind our Christ Self.
   Meanwhile, the teaching has been given and the world has bound the Christ Self so that the opposites of Truth can continue to dominate the mind of man. This is taking place within all of us. We know what Gethsemane is. We know what’s expected of us. We know our purpose is to live in Divine Love.
   And so now, our entire quest is how to stand in that consciousness called Gethsemane, in the Garden of Truth, in the Christ mind, watching all that would declare itself to be real when it is unreal; ridding ourselves of the false consciousness which sees what isn’t there.”
7. Something from Gilbert Carpenter, Notes on Divinity, Spiritual Earth, ” “The resurrection is not to be resurrected from matter – dust. There never was any life in matter to be resurrected. The resurrection is seeing the real man that was never in matter; he never was sick to be made well. That is the way I did the healing. I never saw the material man before me, but the real man, perfect, and this healed instantaneously, and no relapse. This is the way Jesus healed, as in S. & H., it reads, “Jesus beheld the perfect man,” etc. This is the resurrection.” To rise above the influence of the corporeal senses and be conscious of the Divine Self. Abide in the Truth– there is only One Life and It is Perfect.
