What does it mean to be pure? To be One without opposite and only Spirit is pure. Divide and conquer before uniting and standing. Joel Goldsmith Beyond Words and Thoughts, Chapter 1 “The heart and soul of the mystical life is an inner experience, and no matter what mode or method is used, that experience is possible if the basic motive is to discover truth. As long as you are just seeking to demonstrate health, supply, or companionship, however, there is no hope of attaining the God-experience. In spite of how successful you may be in human achievement, you will never attain spiritual awareness. That comes only when you have “died” to caring about the outer scene and are willing to take life as it is and work from within toward the goal of God realization.”

   • The Sustaining Truth: Oil does not fight against anything; it simply illuminates. It represents the realization of One Power—Absolute Good without opposition. When a body is looking for Spirit and Truth, oil is the spiritual buoyancy and the anointing that sets the mind apart to serve Spirit.
   Blood: The Process of Purification and Spiritual Life
   While oil is the presence of the Light itself, blood often symbolizes the process of bringing the mortal mind into submission so that reason can walk through the open door of Revelation.
   • Sacrifice of the Mortal Concept: Science and Health defines blood dually: “Sacrifice; the life, energy, and mortal mind; or, conversely, the spiritual life of Spirit.”
   • Refining the Mind/Body Complex: In a material sense, blood is tied to particles and waves—the survival and preservation of the physical body. But when elevated to symbolize Divine Wisdom (the “blood of Christ”), it represents the life of Spirit flowing through consciousness. It signifies the necessary purification and distillation of the mind/body complex, making it a hospitable environment to invite pure Spirit into awareness.
   The Key Difference
   In short, blood is the transformational energy and the sacrifice of the belief in two powers (mortality), representing the inner marriage and rebirthing of the physical body in Spirit. Oil is the serene, consecrated awareness of the Divine Creation that follows—the frictionless reality of Wholeness where the mind rests entirely in God.
