Notes:
- The Idea of walking in the Kingdom of Heaven on earth may or may not be appealing to you but it is an aspiration of mine. To be able to Know the Truth that frees me from the turmoil of a good and evil world of energy and the belief in everything unlike Absolute Goodness. So– Is it possible to actualize the promises of Scripture even when no one seems to be doing it? Absolutely, error is error even when everyone is doing it and Truth is Truth when no one is doing it. So, today we will talk about the requirements to achieve the Realization of the Force within eliminating death and all things leading to death.
- Start with the Principle – the only thing certain is Life and this Life is Eternal, Perfect, Changeless, Whole and everywhere always. As Jesus says, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Where is the disconnect? It is the belief in the mental-material appearance which veils the Truth. What we are calling life isn’t Life it is the shadow or reflection of Life. Noumena and phenomena – how things are in Truth and how they appear to corporeal sense. We see what isn’t there and are blind to the Divine wonderment.
- We are actually seeing what isn’t here while blind to what is here — the Kingdom of Heaven.
- Though I hear a lot of members of the Christian Science church say there is no formula in Christian Science. I find nothing but divine metaphysical strategies in the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. Most of which coincide with the recommendations found in the Kriya Yoga we teach which has melded the two systems by taking the lifestyle strategies from Kriya Yoga and the Principle and Rule from Christian Science.
- Looking at the foundation of Kriya Yoga as constant practice of detachment and continuous control of the thought variations and comparing it to the Christian concept of keeping the mind in constant relation with the Divine. Never lose sight of the Principle or the Omnipresent Spirit. This may be a good time to talk about the two concepts found in what is called Divine Science the one held by Mary Baker Eddy in Christian Science and the other Malinda Cramer of New Thought. To the best of my understanding the major difference is in the concept of creation. Mrs. Eddy upholds the Absolute Goodness of the Divine Creation completely separate from the mental-material concept called this world which is of good and evil. While, Malinda Cramer disagrees and stands by the Allness of God that God made this world both the good and evil. Though it may seem like semantics I have found the importance of Mrs. Eddy’s position and also think it is supported in the book of John, “All things were made through him and what was not made by him was not made.” This seems to support the nothingness of anything not made by the Divine Principle which gives dominion to the Divine as the only Power.
- Recognizing the nothingness of error and evil and then agree with thine adversary because only God or Good is without opposition. Once it is established that the entire mental-material appearance is the adversary then it is crucial to gain dominion over it before it has dominion over you. As Mrs. Eddy suggests in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures 167:6 to 168:3, “We apprehend Life in divine Science only as we live above corporeal sense and correct it. Our proportionate admission of the claims of good or of evil determines the harmony of our existence, — our health, our longevity, and our Christianity.
We cannot serve two masters nor perceive divine Science with the material senses. Drugs and hygiene cannot successfully usurp the place and power of the divine source of all health and perfection. If God made man both good and evil, man must remain thus. What can improve God’s work? Again, an error in the premise must appear in the conclusion. To have one God and avail yourself of the power of Spirit, you must love God supremely.
The “flesh lusts against the Spirit.” The flesh and Spirit can no more unite in action, than good can coincide with evil. It is not wise to take a halting and half-way position or to expect to work equally with Spirit and matter, Truth and error. There is but one way — namely, God and His idea — which leads to spiritual being. The scientific government of the body must be attained through the divine Mind. It is impossible to gain control over the body in any other way. On this fundamental point, timid conservatism is absolutely inadmissible. Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized.
Substituting good words for a good life, fair seeming for straightforward character, is a poor shift for the weak and worldly, who think the standard of Christian Science too high for them.” - How to control thought before stopping thinking to begin Knowing. Initially gaining dominion over the thought variations by controlling the rate of thought and then shifting from the modes of mortal thought to let Divine Mind do Its Knowing in your awareness. Stop thinking with five corporeal senses and start Knowing with seven Spiritual senses. We do this through initiation of the developmental process beginning with born of Spirit, developing human intelligence, then overcoming corporeal sense functioning in human consciousness and then letting the Lord build the house. Mrs. Eddy suggests this in a few places,
Christian Healing, page 14. “The preparation for a metaphysical practitioner is the most arduous task I ever performed. You must first mentally educate and develop the spiritual sense or perceptive faculty by which one learns the metaphysical treatment of disease; you must teach them how to learn, together with what they learn. I waited many years for a student to reach the ability to teach; it included more than they understood.
Metaphysical or divine Science reveals the Principle and method of perfection,– how to attain a mind in harmony with God, in sympathy with all that is right and opposed to all that is wrong, and a body governed by this mind.” And in Miscellaneous Writings, The Way page 355, “The present stage of progress in Christian Science presents two opposite aspects, — a full-orbed promise, and a gaunt want. The need, however, is not of the letter, but the spirit.
Less teaching and good healing is to-day the acme of “well done;” a healing that is not guesswork, — chronic recovery ebbing and flowing, — but instantaneous cure. This absolute demonstration of Science must be revived. To consummate this desideratum, mortal mind must pass through three stages of growth.”
