- Physics tells us there is no gain without loss and no loss without gain and Divine metaphysics tells us Life is Perfect and Changeless with nothing to gain or lose. Scripture tells us never will the two meet. Socrates said, “may the inner and outer man be as One.” There’s that word “man” again, but for us it is a level of consciousness not gender. Reminding us of the three stages of growth mortal mind must pass through, in The Way in Miscellaneous Writings, Mrs. Eddy wrote, ” mortal mind must pass through three stages of growth.” This is represented in the bible by born of woman, born of man, and born of Spirit– caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly.
- The effortful work of concentration becomes the effortless flow state of meditation. Jesus said, “know the truth, and it will make you free.” Peter Townsend sang, and I paraphrase, “there isn’t any easy way to be free.” So the connection may be found in what is meant by to Know which brings us to the difference between thinking with five corporeal senses and Knowing with seven Spiritual sense. Do we have to earn or develop something to avail ourselves of the option to repent or think differently?
- The outer and the inner be the same, what surrounds us is within us and consciousness is experience– am I being influenced by mental/material energy or the Divine Omnipresence. Striving for perfection may simply be a revealing of what already is here, becoming conscious to material sense. As we will learn, creating perfection is not the same as realizing Perfection.
- Striving for perfection may simply be the very activity which separates the human from the Divine.
- From the show on Artificial Intelligence we did on 11/15/21 In essence can it be said, Artificial Intelligence is to human intelligence what human intelligence is to Divine Intelligence. wherein mortal mind is the unreal version of the True Divine Mind. As Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, , p. 468:8–15, “Question. — What is the scientific statement of being?
Answer. — There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.” - Let’s talk about the difference between human intelligence and AI because the computer is made in the image and likeness of the mortal mind with its binary system– a belief in two powers. The human is the shadow of the Divine Mind which means it isn’t real; it is a reflection but not the original.
- Here is a way to begin to develop a distinction between mortal mind and Divine Mind. Herb Fitch LJ 3B, “No unintelligent action exists in the Spiritual universe around me. I am not accepting a material universe around me. I am walking in a Spiritual universe and being faithful to the intelligence of the Divine Mind, the Divine Consciousness to be present governing all that exists, and, therefore, no unintelligent action is possible. In this contemplation, I rest. To this I am true. I cannot change an unintelligent action because it isn’t there. I cannot sympathize with it. I cannot resent it. I cannot judge it. I cannot condemn it. I cannot fear it. it is not there anymore than that sick person that I had imagined some time ago.”
